As principal of Message Maven Consulting, Katie provides executive, corporate, and sales communications and thought leadership guidance for clients across various industries, including consumer technology, media, biotechnology, manufacturing, IT, and agency.

Before starting Message Maven, Katie advised the Dean of the Stanford School of Medicine, crafting the remarks and presentations that he gave at events on campus and around the world. She also programmed, wrote, and analyzed the performance of the Dean’s print and digital communications, which reached approximately 86,000 people, including the entire Stanford Medicine community as well as global influencers.

Previously, Katie was at the visual storytelling agency Duarte, where she wrote presentations, speeches, and video scripts for senior executives. Audiences for these communications included current and potential customers and employees.

At StumbleUpon (now Mix), an online content discovery engine, Katie pitched and authored stories about the company in the press and secured media opportunities for our senior executives. She was also the gatekeeper of the brand, generating integrated marketing ideas across social media and at conferences and events. Prior to StumbleUpon, Katie was an AdWords account strategist at Google, where she consulted clients on how to shape their optimal online marketing strategies and was held accountable for a multi-million-dollar book of business.

Katie has a bachelor's degree in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard University. At Harvard, she was also an executive editor for The Harvard Crimson, where she generated story ideas, edited articles, and managed a team of reporters weekly.

In her spare time, Katie enjoys spending time with family and friends, performing improv comedy, leading multi-day backpacking trips, and dancing the Argentine tango.
